I've searched Google/these forums, and I have yet to see a comparison on the two. Can anyone point me in the right direction of some reasoning/facts/numbers behind +2 being used over Kecks? I've been wondering about this ever since Thaumas Kecks were released.

Thanks.

The +Kick Attacks and +STP on tantra is what make Tantra+2 > Thaumas. You do this so you can use Epona's instead of Tyrant's Ring so you have a decent STP setup. I know monk gets TP overflow alot but it still matters to some degree.

While +7 Kick attacks isnt the same as +7 Double attack, it stilll is nice to have extra chances for another attack.

Edit:
Thamaus kecks are really nice for WS however

I can see the STP point. But, looking at the Keck's stats vs Tantra +2 stats, it seems like you're giving up a considerable amount of damage boost per punches and kicks. But I at least have a little better understanding of the reasoning behind Tantra +2 being the standard.

Tantra +2 are essentially +7% Double Attack (with boosted damage thanks to Tantra Gaiters+2). The sTP is just icing.

Closer to 4% Double Attack.
Still makes them better for TP than Thaumas, especially when attack capped.

Also you can't discount the looks factor. Clearly going to Tantra imo =P

Not only are you getting more tp/punch(and kick) from the stp, but you also get TP from the extra kicks themselves, which goes a long way. Even more so if you're using Victory Smite or Spharai SSpiral

I was messing around with MNK sets the other day on the spreadsheet.

AF3+2 is the best.

Without the tekko+1 would the downgrade be ganesha's mask and the relic +2 hands? or Thaumas head and different hands

Ganesha/Relic +2 hands is correct if your attack isnt already capped.

If attack is already capped (Like NNI mobs for example), Ganesha's + Mustela Gloves.

Pretty much if your attack is already capped against the mob, use a combination of gloves/head that still gives enough haste to cap and then gain double attack/critical hite rate.

If Mustela set gets partial set bonuses, which im not sure if it does, when attack is capped, Mustela head/ Hands would be a great choice because you gain STR, DEX, Enough haste to cap haste, +2% Double attack, and increased crit hit rate. Like i said though, this depends on if mustela set gives partial set bonuses which im not sure.

Because i havnt got around to getting better hands i currenty use Ganesha's Mask/Thamus bod/Tanta +2 Hands/Tanta +2 Feet/Tantra +2 legs.

Forgot to mention, attack is capped most usually under impetus therefore you "Should" have an impetus/berserk up set which will cater more towards DEX/Crit Hit Rate/Double Triple Quad Attack/ STR because attack will be capped and an impetus/berserk down set which will be centered around capping attack.

Same goes with WS phase. Monk is one of the most situational DDs to gear simply because a higher proportion of normal attacks goes to overall damage than any other DD so you havee to try to maxamize every hit more than you do say on WAR or DRK or SAM because most of their damage comes from WS.

If your looking for an overall set that isnt gonna cost a fortune, go with Taints set above but use Ganeshas Mask and Mustela gloves. Thats pretty much the catch all set right now.

How about Brego Gloves?

Less str/attack, but keeps you at 26% haste, so can still use Thaumas head

Additionally, how about Nomkahpa? only 25% haste, but 3% DA to go with it.

Thaumas/Nomk is best with acc/att capped
Ganesha/mustela would be 2nd best
Genesha/melee would be best when acc/att are not capped

For attack not capped, I was getting better numbers on the spreadsheet with birsk mask + attack ammo rather than store tp ammo and ganesha
