to give some possible answers to some of the questions.
bahamut as summon- just too powerful. i believe he is immortal unlike the other avitars. and to summon him, it would require more then simply reconstituting his defeated spirit.
as for the odin/alexander theory- you do have to defeat them both leaving them in a severly weakened state. and you only plead for their assistance for a very short duration.
i think bahamut would be far too powerful. also they would have to make him a fire element and that would mean 2 fire elemental avitars and that would offset the balance of the job.
with the indruduction of cait sith(which i believe to be light) that will make 2 light, 2 dark, and 1 of each element that can be controlled. and a light and dark that are momentairily summoned.
as for a few other WTF issues- how abot the fact that you can carry 90 extremely large book shelves or beds on your person but you cant in any way stack coffer ande chest keys.
that a ninja wielding daggers causes more damage then with katanas

You can walk up stairs easily but you can't even walk up a tiny little ledge.

Why does the term "balance" mean "nerf everything that isn't SAM?"

Mega Flare is traditional non-elemental, not fire.
Bamahut wouldn't be overpowered, it would put SMN in it's rightful place instead of underpowered. Tanaka's vision of Balance etc.

why do beetles have 4 legs...instead of 6?
why do spiders have 6 legs...instead of 8?
why is it that a giant dragon in a small area...isn't noticeable until you walk a few feet from it?
we master inter-dimensional travel...can only stay in abyssea for a minimum of 5 minutes?
Travel to the emergence of all life as we know it,cant go to Tavnazian Capital ever.
how can BRD monsters gain two buffs...without an instrument?
why do samurai mobs wield great axes?
how can NIN mobs do a shiton of damage with Mijin Gakure...but players can barely break 1K?

As my contribution, related to spiders:
Look at the shadow.

i think bahamut would be far too powerful. also they would have to make him a fire element and that would mean 2 fire elemental avitars and that would offset the balance of the job. v Summoner rant. Read at your own choosing >_> Still, going just by the lore of Vana'diel, Terrestrial Avatars (Carbuncle, Fenrir, Bahamut, Phoenix, and Diabolos) were originally mere animals until the five mother crystals were born; then the crystals gave them demi-god status. It is even stated in the Chains of Promithia story-line that, should Vana'diel be changed to a land of paradise (the six sleeping gods awaken,) the Terrestrial Avatars would revert back to their original, animal existence. Furthermore, the Terrestrial Avatars can die as stated in Chains of Promithia.
Celestial Avatars (not the tone-downed ones that summoners can fight) are, going by the lore, much stronger than Bahamut. Most likely two (or even one, depending on just how much of power difference between a Waking the Beast Celestial Avatar is compared to if the avatar was -actually- fighting (rather than making some projection do it)) could defeat and/or kill Bahamut easily.
I just don't see the logic that, "Oh, well we don't want to lower his power to one that would be appropriate for a summoner," when we're already calling tone-down versions of the actual god avatars before Bahamut was introduced in FFXI. And they've already shown they can make small and bigger versions of monsters with the Abyssea expansions. So scaling him down to a player-2hr only summon really shouldn't be -that- unreasonable.
Also, there is currently three dark avatars (four with Atomos; not counting the fact that him and Odin are 2hr only) and two light (three with Cait Sith.) The summon-able avatars are already "unbalanced" in terms of numbers. And when you say, "far too powerful," do you mean like Odin's Zantensuken attack? Ever used that on a NM when it was near full HP? Was the first player skill to actually break 10k outside of Abyssea if I recall correctly.
Want to know something I couldn't make sense of when I still played?
Remember in Wings of the Goddess where you planted a treant bud in the past, then traveled to the future to collect an item for a NPC from the grown treant? Going by that, anything we affect in the past should have some impact on the future; to a degree. However! How come none of the NPCs in the present that were key NPCs in the past nations' stories remember you? Or even hint at it? Don't you think that the Archduke of Jeuno would have remembered you? Or what's his face that gets om-nom'd into Promithia ?
This is why you leave time travel to The Doctor. >_> Silly Sqenix story writers.

Why do rabbits have only 2 legs? Speaking of rabbits, why is one of their abilities called "Foot Kick"? Isn't that a bit redundant? What else are you going to kick with? lol

Why rng got a treasure hunter ability over cor... I'd think pirates who are all about gambling would be the ranged class to get an ability to increase chances of getting treasure.

Why Bard only got about 2 or 3 different tunes to play.
It's annoying and repetative....
By Shiroineko 2012-05-20 03:19:09
On that note, why Bard's only get a C skill for their music, but are the only ones who can carry a tune worth a damn?
And when you cook something, where the hell do the dishes and cutlery come from!?

1) because singing and the (instrument) skill add up(which i think gives you the ability to go over the A+ cap)
2) magic...pure..unscrupulous..magic

bard skills are a bit wierd :<
Singing skill + (the instrument you have equipped) skill gives you your total skill level [if i understand it correctly]. at capped you can get a total of 746 skill (373+373= 746) which is way over the A+ cap for skill :< if they where all A+ BRD would be incredubroken. Not to mention the effects that skill has on songs :<

Airship: So where's the engine room?
Hume Males make it look like a Great Sword is so heavy when in battle stance. But when they emote it's so light.
Elvaan Females stab with Axes? How does that hurt a mob?
Gravity a Marid and run far away. Come back in 10 mins and it still finds you?
Pull a mob from one of the holes in Yuhtunga/Yhoater Jungle and they become jesus?

Why touching your *** makes everything work. I'm more concerned about how it seems to be where you store all your food and meds.
Just kind of curious what other people have come across in the game that just doesn't make any sense. I don't mean "this noob's gear/skill doesn't make sense" or "it doesn't make sense that I've gone 0/50 on this drop".
One thing that I could never make sense of in the game is how Shiva has Sleepga and Leviathan has Slowga. Shouldn't Diabolos or Fenrir have Sleepga and Titan have Slowga?
Anyways, what are some aspects of FFXI that make no sense to you?
