how do u make up your battle plans for fights

Anything /war with one Staff merit and the Briareus headband can use Sunburst (alternatively, /pld is exactly 150 base at 49). THF/WAR has almost as many procs as NIN/WAR as well as TH if you need pop items as well as KIs and can tank most stuff (bosses included) Fell Cleave and Charged Whisker are not the only AoE abilities. Aeolian Edge works really well too. Fanatic's/Fool's powders are useful for emergency situations and you should get loads if you amber burn a lot and stuff Sylph.Kawar said: » is this the steps u take sorry i am wanting to make a plan for aby fights and endgame like dyna or sky just so when i go in i have a plan and people cant say any more i do not have one lol i know the people who have said that i do not have a plan i am working on it i am trying trust me i am. Sylph.Kawar said: » anyway so i have had to do just that take over being leader but it is temp and i want to say that now, when the leaders come back i will step down no matter what. i all ready helped them run dyna runs anyway when they played all the time. In your other thread you mentioned having already run dynamis, so you're only just now wanting a plan? I think if you reflect back on past events that you've done with the LS that you are, as you said, "4rth-5th in line to be leader of" you might actually realize that you had some sort of plans back then. You might have even had more exposure to the other events than you claim. Think back to how you and your LS leaders "led" said events and work from there. You could also just ask your ls members (some are sackholders too!) for help, in terms of recalling how you fought, or should fight, anything. You guys play together so you know each others' skills and capabilities. They are probably very well aware of yours. You can even think back to any shout groups you've gone with for events, and think about why specific jobs were needed, and what was required from each job that participated. Ragnarok.Anye said: » Would you care to explain how this thread goes against forum rules? Not trying to condone the level of rudeness presented before, but I have a response to this one. Spam, creating multiple threads at the same time to ask different questions, when they could just create one (or better yet use the thread that's intended for such things) is considered spamming I thought. That's assuming the OP is serious, considering from the glances over of previous posts in the past week or so most of his questions have been answered numerous times already. I can understand trying to start conversations, but does there really need to be a thread for every single last random FFXI question by the same user? Ok Kawar is asking a lot of question. so what? i can be annoyed too sometimes, but this is a forum and asking is legitimate, while answering is a courtesy.
I see here a new player asking for game advice and all he gets is bashing just because he "ask too many questions". Bahamut.Savannahlynn said: » But he's obviously asking for more input on some of his topics than just one answer. He is asking how other people do things. Saying he should post all his stuff in the RQT is like saying anyone who has any question about the game should post in that thread. Assuming he's serious, he just wants to see all the different possibilities (which obviously requires multiple posts from whoever wants to contribute) that he could maybe make work for him. I have nothing to contribute to the OP, so I'm just going to stop there. To contribute though. I normally just through a tank/whm at whatever it is and it dies. Some fights need a specific tank over another this is why you have to look the mob up on the wiki. Not getting into Vw since you're far from there yet. Find other good players. Everything usually falls into place from there. General strategy for any given fight is usually public knowledge soon after the fight is available. If you do not know how to properly set up for a fight and find capable members, DO NOT SET UP THE FIGHT; you will just be wasting the time of 17 other people. Go with someone else who knows what they are doing first. The exception to this would be new content that no one really knows how to do, in which case I would advise being patient and waiting until it gets cleared up. The most important thing is to READ. Don't be lazy and expect someone to baby you through an event. Know what needs to be done before-hand by reading the wiki. If you have troubles understanding how to use the wiki or doing research in general, leading is not for you. edit: Please do not take this the wrong way, but if you are having to ask these questions, you are probably not ready to be leading anything. this is what i see when i think about aby i am like 0 no there is so much i need to know. where do i begin something like that is what points in my head, btw out of the 3 basic abys what is the easiest one. A lot of things are simply done by trial and error. You learn from your mistakes and those of others.
Kawar, the short answer to your question is to read wiki. The events like sky and sea are laid out there in extensive detail. It sounds like you want a shortcut and are being lazy. There isn't a short 1 paragraph magic shortcut to building winning groups for all events.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Main_Page Read about what the nms you're up against can do. Bring healers, DD, and tanks accordingly. This can apply to all events. If you're not willing to spend some times reading and preparing then nothing will get off the ground. Leading a shell now is probably easier than its ever been. You don't need 36 people to get anything outside of Legion. You don't need to keep points and attendance of 36+ people. There is really no reason to be a lazy leader in today's XI with smaller linkshells now. Yes some people are being rude but it's because there is already a place for this information and you have been pointed to it several times. Back in the day I used to just get on the wiki mission/boss page and hit the discussion tab and steal everybody elses idea.
I doubt this tactic has changed in the past 9 years. Quote: this is what i see when i think about aby i am like 0 no there is so much i need to know. where do i begin something like that is what points in my head, btw out of the 3 basic abys what is the easiest one. Tahrongi Canyon is by far the hardest. La Theine Plateau is probably the easiest. If you're just starting in Abyssea, work on getting two Lunar Abyssites really quickly (buy one, clear one Zone Boss for another - Briareus is simple if you read up on his mechanics) and get these atma: Melee: Atma of the Razed Ruins + Atma of the Gnarled Horn, Atma of Voracious Violet, Atma of the Sanguine Scythe Mage: Atma of the Minikin Monstrosity + Atma of Allure, Atma of the Stormbird (or whatever Turul's is) There are good ones other than those listed but if you get two of those going on your players, you will have a very good fighting chance at most stuff. Also collect Merit Abyssites. If you are leading a group of people mainly new to Abyssea, those should be your priorities. doesn't matter. people have the right to request for info here to find answers. and you can get plenty of ideas here too.
Don't forget Abyssites of Furtherance, too. Those are incredibly important.
what is the best Atmas i should get if i play pld more then any other class.
on a follow up qustion, what would the best ones before dancer and nin as well.dancer and nin are 2 classes i am thinking of taking to max level. that is why i asked. edit also when it comes to getting people would a linkshell be better or just shouting for 18 people i only ask seeing as i am going to need to make the battle plans for a small party or a big party. The best Generals win the fight before they take the field. That being said, know your target. BG has the latest information on Mobs and their respective tp moves, etc. Have a counter-measure in place for each. Some mobs, such as Arch Diablos, in Tav, can't be zerged, so look at those type of mobs closely because they have specific job demands (Bard, on Arch Diablos for example for removing phalanx). There are others. Key is to have a counter measure for every move your target has.

I really think that you should have deleted it and send the OP a private messaging explaining that things like this don't deserve their own thread and is only asking for trouble. The other option, not moderating is to let the law of the land decide it's fate. While BG is a whole other beast I'll explain a story there. I started a thread asking about sea necks. I was berated and my thread was made fun of. I quickly learned that there is a thread "Random Questions" to post that kind of question in. If the mods had coddled me and forced people to answer my question, I wouldn't have learned anything. No one is FORCING you or people to answer (you don't even have to open the thread if you don't want to).. LOL So you learn by being berated and made fun of.. Others don't and shouldn't HAVE to on a forum to find answers.. there is always a nice way to say "Here is a thread where you can post your questions" If you don't want to take the time to be nice and you would rather make fun of people or berate them, don't post anything at all. I really don't see how it's a hard concept. To the OP, read up on wiki and bg, get an 'idea' of the fight before hand, read threads here and on bgforums for successful strats for fights. They can be hard to find, and once you get the hang of things, you'll be able to make out your own strats, but for now you just have to put in the time if you want to be a successful leader. Sylph.Kawar said: » what is the best Atmas i should get if i play pld more then any other class. Atma of the Job Change. It's not really a good job, especially in Abyssea where it won't keep hate over other (any) DDs. Not to mention you're still 79 :/ Some people take this forum way too seriously.
It also seems like anyone who asks a question in the place they are "not meant too" are referred to as trolling. These are great reasons why I rarely post here, but here goes, I am going to help this person. This is what you should be doing in Abyssea. 1) Gaining EXP for your jobs, work on jobs you either like, or feel will be useful to Abyssea. Useful jobs for Abyssea are as follows: WHM BLM WAR NIN THF BLU. Personally I am always on my THF in Abyssea, it gives Treasure Hunter, it can Tank, it can Damage deal, and I have time to lead a party, focus on tanking, and let the others work on Abyssea Procs. Get the jobs you want, maxed out at level 99, then completely max out the merits for each job, if you need help on what to spend merits on, ask for help in the specific sub forum for that job. 2) Work on gaining Atmas, and Abyssites These are obtained in a number of ways, you can either: Buy then from NPC in the first three zones. Quest them by asking an NPC Fighting NMs, getting a Red Proc on a NM will pretty much guarantee you an Atma or Abyssite. Abyssites give you many different bonuses inside Abyssea that will always be active. Atma is different, they can severely increase your stats and traits, and you can have up to three Atma active at a time, if you collect all three "Lunar Abyssite". Good Atmas that I use on my THF are: Razed Ruins, Voracious Violet, Sanguine Scythe, Gnarled Horn, Apocalypse,. These atma are mostly for Tanking/DD, Mages will need refresh atmas. 3) Work on getting clears in Abyssea Every Abyssea zone has a mega boss, if you see a shout, or someone in your LS is arranging a Mega Boss fight, tag along and get it! Personally I do this all the time in my linkshell, and I don't mind whether newer players just stand there and take the credit, as they will most likely end up dieing if they tried to engage anyway. 4) Work on getting your Empyrean(AFv3) gears Find out where you can get your base AFv3 gears, then you can go out and fight NMs for seals. You will get a trial for each piece of gear, which will ask for a set amount of seals, once you have fought a NM enough times, and collected enough seals, the base gear can be upgraded to +1. You can further upgrade these gears to +2, stronger NM will drop +2 items. You should be aiming to get full sets of AFv3+2 for your jobs. 5) Find better gear for you jobs. Some NM will drop good gear in Abyssea, they might be slightly outdated now due to Voidwatch and other new events, but a lot of Abyssea gear can be used, and are FREE! Twilight gear, Goading Belt, Aces gear, certain weapons, and many many more different pieces of equipment can be obtained to further your character. Don't just stop there, get drops from chests in Abyssea and sell them on AH, this money can be used to buy gear from the Auction House. 6) Learning how to lead A long time ago I was like you, I asked a lot of questions, and that is a good thing! Don't be discouraged by people who give you smartass answers, like they expect you to know everything they do. Ask as many questions as you like, see how other people lead events, you do not need to jump in and become a leader if your not ready for it, you have to be willing to learn the game quite a bit before people will trust that you can handle situations. In Abyssea you only need a handful of good players to get the majority of the content done, you will need to make friends, and they will want you to help them obtain things, and in return they will help you. It is a common goal for any linkshell with a group of close friends, to work towards improving each others characters, which in turn will benefit you in the long run as well! I play with my father on a regular basis, and we help our linkshell members obtain their goals, and in return they help us farm our Empyrean Weapon items. Being a good leader is about giving, not taking, and it is about not getting stressed out and willing to spend time to sort out problems. However sometimes as a leader, you will find those idiots who are there just to create trouble, don't allow them to mess things up for you, do not allow them to come to your events, always take "Good" people who are respectful, and also make sure you take the jobs that are required to actually beat whatever your after. It is always good to do a "Trial" run on something you have never faced before, let your members know you have never fought it, but you would like to, to gain some experience on just how tough it can be. Even if you lose and wipe, this gives you valuable experience, experience is sometimes more essential then just reading words off a website. You could know every move a monster does, but that does not prepare you for just how powerful it can be, how you time certain moves, what you would expect from your players and so on. I am not one of those "Elitest" players who has 19 Ultimate weapons(Relics, Mythics, Empys), every job on 99, and play every single second of the day, but I have been playing since 2004, and I had been leading linkshells from 2004-2010. No leader gets it right all the time, even the best ones makes mistakes, so just go out there and have fun, and if you wipe? Well its just a game, laugh it off and try it again. Peace |
