Quick Question About Learning Spells.

A LS mate of mine told me that you cannot learn spells from Too weak mobs, while a couple lvl 99 BLU told me you could. Which is correct? I only wonder this because I am going on 3+ hours of trying to learn magic fruit from the lvl 35-40 opo in yuhtunga jungle and am about 0/15 on learning it.

Also, is there a higher chance of learning a spell if the mob is closer to your level?

You can learn from Too Weak. Period.

your skill level is the most likely problem or really bad luck. Everyone has a spell or two that becomes an epic saga to learn.

I've never had any major problems learning spells, I think most people just whack at level 40 mobs with level 95 weapons and kill em too fast... just feed it TP with a cheap level 1 sword, and wait for it to do its move.

It's a long-standing confusion due to bad wording in SE's original introduction of BLU (here).


What they meant was that if the monster is one that never gives XP, like BCNM or (at the time) Dynamis mobs, it was ineligible to learn from.
A mob that would give XP were it not Too Weak is still an XP-granting mob, so you can still learn spells from it.

As mentioned, your Blue Magic skill does need to be of an appropriate level in order for you to be able to learn spells. It has nothing to do with the mob level itself though, and everything to do with the level BLU gets the spell.
