I can make an average of 700k/hr in Kuftal Tunnel with 0 fishing skill and TH1. No excuse for someone not having time to farm or buy gil.

Think to even if u did have the time to play and crap u still need "good" gear to get into a HNMls. How are u supposed to get this gear if u cant kill the NMs? Thats just my 2 sence on this whole thing. lol

Level a WHM or BRD.
App to HNMLS and get invited regardless of gear level.
Stay in said LS and gear up DD jobs.

I got into my first HNMls being gimp as *** almost. But I knew what I was doing and the people around knew that I knew I was doing. And by good gear I'm saying gear that doesn't make you look like an idiot and looks like you put time into getting it.

My point was to say that even "hardcore" players have their limits, and frankly, having to do something that takes 18+ hours straight is just inhumane. You've got 6 hours left there for sleep, assuming you a) don't eat at all, b) don't interact with anyone outside the game, c) no potty breaks, d) basically anything else. Some people have the time, but the simple fact is that the vast majority don't. SE got bad publicity for this, and for a reason. So they "wanted" to kill it. They didn't. And it was never killed until the two-hour cap was introduced. Two hours is still a long time for one, single thing; but it's more reasonable and a decent enough time to invest for the rewards after clearing a long chain of NMs prior.
I like the tiered events, like Einherjar, Limbus, and ZNM. They require significant amounts of effort to obtain rewards, but the pacing is easier on oneself: a few hours a week over a period of time. On the other hand, I hate things like Dynamis. Four hours of total lag and snorefest, bad drop rates... it gets to you after awhile. As far as kings go... Defending Ring seems like the only piece worth the effort to me. Maybe it's because I'm a BLU, I dunno. But stuff like Dalmatica, Ridill... it's outdated.
EDIT: Oh yeah, you claimed that the people who don't have time for stuff like that sit around all day /sh'ing in Whitegate...

So maybe times have changed? and what do u mean by gimp lol? Try getting into a HNMls that claims things with that same equip and see what happens.
I think it'd be cool if kings were popped ZNM-ish style. Craftable (maybe farmable?) pop item, trade to ???, chance it could be HQ. Or maybe NQ drops stuff to make HQ pop item.
By gimp I mean I was meleeing in Str rings and Hachiman Domaru, but I knew what I was doing and in the free time outside of events I was farming and getting geared up. Nowa days the standard for linkshells are basically almost;

Force spawn Kings that are exact copies of the originals would be too easy to recreate, they could even leave the original kings in place for those people who "like" (lollies) to camp. There's really no reason to waterdown any of them since you can kill any of the 3 kings damn near naked or gimp gear, JP do it all the time.
edit: i didnt read all the pages but im always amazed more people never bring up the issue of latency... Ive lived in Japan, several places in North America, and Germany, and with the same hardware its significantly easier / more difficult to claim (depending on location) anything let alone over camped kings.

gather your friend, win or lose, enjoy your play time.

to "a sentinel is needed to watch when the monster will be ready to welcome your team to try for it,
followed by a race to gather your people."
These type of monster ruins the game, people will wait them for hours depending on their windows.
So a message to casual player : Forget them.
Possible solution :
I think it would be nice if each player could use an "Once per account annual tag" to pop the HNM of their choice.
A linkshell made of 10-15 person could pop 10-15 NM of their choice per year instead of simply farming the time of death for everything in the game and battle for it, which could still be operationnal.
The old method could still work, but once a year, you could "force it"
How many never fought Fafnir, Behemoth, Adamantoise, Roc, etc....lets alone say the HQ version of them....Why didn't you??
Now how many of the same HNM you saw, but couldn't fight because you didn't get claim...now this is the *** part.
And how many of the same HNM did you try, lost, and couldn't adjust and retry because someone else got it.
Did you want to retry after this? Are you retired of HNM? Or do you master them all because of the unlimited hours of time you can play...
Personnaly I don't do HNM. Sure I would like to see what the game has to offer at 100%.
But there is still a lot of stuff that FFXI has to offers. I'd rather repeat some dynamis or limbus, to simply lose an evening waiting for an HNM to show up...
I play the game for the challenge, not for the rarity of the challenge to occurs...
Force pop everything by having to farm pop item , maybe/ maybe not...

Considering I horde some of my angel skins that I fish up to craft my Hecatomb pieces and sell them when I don't need via bazaar or via my mule. And 1/22, pop every roughly 15mins or so depending if some idiot lets it go by accident means you've been fishing for 4.5hrs. Nice longterm data guy. Also; 21/49 total (Yes, I keep track of all my drop rates.) as Sam/Thf. And show me a recent pic of there being 10-20 gilsellers asap please.

If you are usin mules to obtain feathers then to a certain point it may be much much faster to obtain King gear. Can't go to early because you get locked out and you can't go late because you lose claim. Its all a numbers game really and a bot can give you an advantage on this.
