Failed to initialise Direct3D?!
Opened, found, written down.. Doing nothing with it til tomorrow coz I'll rage if I keep on at this!
Cheers guys for all the help. No problem. Good luck.
Apparently my sister has been on and took me to Dragons Aery.. :/
@OP
did you get your other driver installed too? take this time to take the driver you found for your video and make a backup of it on a cd and label it. (I'd tell you to slipstream it to your install disk along with sp3 (if you don't have) other updates and all drivers, but unless you've done it before it may be overwhelming) hell why not, program called nlite that I've used a few times to package drivers with cds (comes in real handy for downgrading vista systems to xp as the hdd controller drivers for sata aren't pre-supported on xp...) edit: link http://www.nliteos.com/ (you could use driver packs to slip to your disk but just for a single system I would find it to be cumbersome) Bahamut.Jetackuu said: @OP did you get your other driver installed too? take this time to take the driver you found for your video and make a backup of it on a cd and label it. Nah, I haven't even bothered looking -.- Thanks for the link too, Will look into it. the tool is quite nice, will let you automate your install too, would work great for one who has to install on multiple pc's, and driver packs help on multiple builds, but they aren't perfect...

Gonna necro this: Have just done a little update on FFXI and I've gotten the same problem. Last time I fixed by installing drivers and stuff. This time, I dunno wtf to do, I haven't reformatted or anything and it worked Monday :/
any advice? Anyone else encounter same problem after the update? Same thing happened to me. I just restarted my comp and it worked just fine afterwards.
Thanks, will try that RQ now :)
How odd.. figured i'd try one more time before rebooting.. Works :S
Stop updating in windower, which is the most likely reason it happened.
the last time it happened I wasn't using windower.

Ok so I am on windows 10 and having this issue re installed ffxi rolled back drivers on the display driver (nvidia GTX tiatan X) not sure what is happening or why. also made sure direct play is enabled. And attempted to run in comparability mode. anyone having this issue or a solution?
did you install the correct version of the game?
any other game has issues? Offline
no other issues in other games, and yes it is the correct version of pol launcher.
download- and manually clean reinstall fresh set of drivers?
(dont forget to run setups as admin) Offline
Installed clean drivers (erased other drivers) and installed under admin no issues in other games. (side not is gsync if on will lock other frames from pol launcher in background like 5 fps) to all other applications turning it off solves this.

Still no dice to pol letting me in ffxi one one screen i have set to primary display it gives the failure to initialized direct3d on the other it just makes the screen unresponsive and does not launch or crash no sound but it locks the screen to what ever was on that screen before it launched
PoL or windower?
if windower, have you checked PoL? I assume already poked around SE's XI settings ? or google? sorry, drawing a blank. :( Offline
Been poking around se's settings and at first i was launching windower but after i had the issue twice i have been using the pol launcher trying to eliminate as many possible issues as i am able to.

tried window'd mode in native resolution no dice, there was a windows update about a day ago around the time i had the issue. If it broke my ffxi i think there would be more people with this issue
You may need to adjust your config settings, need to make sure you choose the right one for your region NA or EU.

I was using US tools in FFXI config to change the settings in ffxi it may be a DX12 issue as the titan x natively uses DX 12 but not sure my brother's pc runs dx 11 native and runs ffxi fine. I doubt it will help but i am going to power down the pc uninstall the GPU and reseat it, maybe it will do something.
bought a laptop with windows 10 on it (not sure if it was upgraded or direct install) i got this error. I tried to troubleshoot with everything you could think of for a few days 12 hours at a time. finally i ended up using the "reset" option in windows 10 and deleted all files so it would be brand new. Reinstalled everything the exact same way i did before but no error.

I saw that but >< I will have to install near 30 games back after it deletes them >< it may be my only option though.
Kids brother here after reinstalling windows and reinstalling ffxi its fixed. stupid though there had to be a way to fix that with out nuking the computer anyway problem solved ty erics for posting it working for you it does solve the issue i guess its the only way that will work for sure with this issue.
