I would think Razed ruins and Voracious Violet would be the best combo

Razed ruin for sure.

Gnarled horn and and V violet are pretty close for 2nd.

DD wise nearly identical, then you have 2/tic regen vs gained dmg from counters, but also consider the 2/tic regen if you're taking breaks (like walking to the next NM) and not exp style between mobs, then you'll pretty much get to start every fight w/ a ws w/ VV.

For tanking, there's stuff like Impregnable Tower(+50% HP) or Ebon Hoof(+30% HP) Assuming you need the extra HP for that situation.

There's also Atma of Vicissitude (Regen 15/tick + DEF + MDEF) or Atma of the Stronghold (Regen 15/tick + DEF + ATK) if you don't happen to need the MDEF. Atma of the Mounted Champion too (Regen 20/tick, VIT+50, and a decrease in emnity loss when you take damage) which I would think if you were MNK/WAR counterstance tanking, would be the favorable choice.

Of course if you're just getting back from the game and have limited help, Ebon Hoof would probably the easiest of all of these to get. Bring a WAR with a Great Sword, Polearm, Scythe, Sword, Staff, and Club; bring a NIN with Great Katana, Katana, and Dagger. (Or bring multiple people with these weapons if you can find them to make it go faster; If you get lots of people though, TPing on EXP mobs might be recommended so it doesn't spam TP moves (Which prevent you from procing !! if you use a WS during the use of one)) And of course bring support for you, etc etc.

Impregnable tower from Yaanei is +30% like Ebon hoof, the description is wrong.

if you are tanking RR + GH. if you aren't RR + VV.

if you only have one option RR.

Don't have RR? Get it, seriously is that good.

Put it to you this way: RR & VV= Ascetic's Fury Avg-1.6k/High 3.2k (IT mandies). I was able to solo IT Mandies with this (plus trial 1144 reward claws & -pdt gear).

Idk know why people are recommending Ebon Hoof or Impregnable tower. The only thing u get from it is HP+ no other real benefit. I personally personally preferr Sanguine Scythe(HP+: Major Critical Hit damage+: Major Enmity+:Minor)+ Razed Ruins. Having 3k hp and massive crit hit dmg is nice.

Critdmg+ caps, you're not benefitting from SS nearly as much as you think you are.

RR is pretty much a given, I like GH for general use from there and it's very close to VV in overall damage.

yea it does cap however i think that afew extra % in crit hit dmg trumps afew extra hp if u have a good whm by your side. Also with mnk tanking that little bit of extra emnity always helps. Im will still stick with Sanguine Scythe over ebon hoof. From a sheer dmg perspective RR+VV.

RR + GH
as ppl have said dmg between VV and GH is pretty similar, and if u smashing out average 3.5k VS u r going to be tankin wether u like it or not so GH > VV. i have 2.9k+ hp on mnk anyway w/ 4x merit, really not worth using a hp atma imo, and besides prob gonna get a 3rd lunar so RR+GH+VV = pure win

Yeah, with a third abyssite, that would be very, very sexy. And that's assuming there isn't even a single Atma from the new zones that will be worth using for a DD.

If you don't have VV, Stout Arm is a decent choice as well. ;x I would say RR and VV are the best combo for the most part but it's situational cause like others said GH is pretty hawt as well.

If you don't have VV and want a STR atma, Harvester is also a decent option.
DA+5% and STR+40. If I recall it parses very close (the same?) to Stout Arm on Kinetic's spreadsheet.

WIth that third lunar out, best combos would be:
RR+VV+SA (razed ruins voracious violet stout arm)
RR+VV+SS (razed ruins voracious violet sanguine scythe)
but anyway, wondering
why using an headlong belt on your mnk?

You completely forgot about Gnarled Horn...

Razed Ruins + Voracious Violet + Gnarled Horn will win.

Look into Atma of the Dark Depths if you don't have gnarled horn. Another Major Critical Hite Rate+ to go with Razed Ruins. Clocking almost 75% crit rate right now :D Plus an AGI/EVA bonus for tanking.

If you don't have Gnarled Horn, it is something worth dedicated focus. The +20% counter (along with just counterstance and AF2 feet) can put you up at 80% counter rate. Add in the AGI boost that now effects Subtle Blow, and the Crit rate boost... its huge. I would easily give up VV over Gnarled Horn atma for almost anything in abyssea.

RR/VV/GH for pure dd.
RR/GH/SS for tanking.
RR/GH/Stronghold for soloing your +2 seals.
Razed Ruins should never be questioned for MNK.

I'd still go SS. Not going to counter Magic atks or ws's. SS will also offer more bang for your buck on Ascetic's fury.

EDIT: Also higher HP base means less enmity loss when getting hit.
