Dynamis: RDM, SCH and WHM are better for healing, especially lowman (what LS brings more than 10-18 people now anyway?) Haste Samba.
Quote: Limbus: One exception to the rule. SE Apollyon can be done with SAM+RDM minimum, though a DNC couldn't hurt for haste samba and extra healing...NE Apollyon wouldn't hurt either, really a BLU+RDM minimum @ 85 now Wouldn't be surprised if DNC could solo some levels, a duo of DNC/DD definitely could.
Quote: Sky: They would just be a THF with no SA, TA or TH, so it's considered "a waste," especially over better overall DDs, buffers and healers Haste Samba for Kirin, who gives a *** about the rest they're piss easy anyways.
But who does sky?
Quote: Einherjar: Can't really afford to wait on Waltz recast to heal a party, and BRD can do better with march over haste samba anyway, so you still have your standard required jobs for this event. Perhaps kite Odin's Fomors? I dunno Haste Samba.
But who does Einherjar?
Quote: Nyzul: This seems to be the other only exception where a RDM can play support while DNC does Waltzes. If you think Nyzul counts as endgame it's no wonder you underestimate DNC.
Quote: Salvage: WAR SAM MNK THF RDM WHM BLM BRD onry, amirite? Never brought a DNC to salvage, idklol.
Quote: ZNM: Can kite a few NMs, from what I've read ZNMs aren't hard.
Quote: HNM: LOL DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. lol
Quote: Abyssea: EXP Parties, certain NMs probably Can solo/duo a lot of t1 NMs.

Granted, the ability to heal outside the party is supremely awesome now, I just don't get how it went from "sucks" to moderately useful now. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED DNC. I'm just so confused how it suddenly became a more accepted job over the years. Haste Samba SHOULD have been a reason, just why now?
A lot of the more vocal idiots (Particularly those on blue gartr) have quit the game. Ideal party setup has been BRD DNC RDM DD DD DD since haste samba was released but idiots on BG only ever do COR BRD support parties for their pole arm sams.

DNC could (theoretically anyways) replace Perfect Defense in situations where being one shotted isn't the issue with Trance, too~

Well, I just MAY level DNC again now. Should probably finish up my last job though before re-gearing it.

I think most people who don't like DNC, are those who don't even know how haste works.
Not to mention bad players not playing DNC correctly... doesn't help the cause. DNC is a great job.

This. DNC is amazing. It can more or less solo heal a whole Dynamis/Einherjar/Abyssea alliance if you're as bad a dude as me. Basically DNC is good if it's something it can whack. If it can't whack it, don't bring it. Many things can be whacked.
Also. Thorny advocates DNC. Thorny is BG. Therefore, BG likes DNC. /thread.

Here is a question I kinda wana ask, I rarely see drks use souleater anymore, I know it sucks if your doing lowman or w/e , but I figured drk/nin would be able to pull off using it every once in a while.
I figured since you get a nice hp buff, maybee souleater would be at least something to play around with,
Long story short, I would like to see some Souleater Quietus's, I would also like to see some Quietus's at 300tp, maybee its like spiral hell and has a HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE high 300tp damage multiplier, 1 more thing I would also like to know is if its a multi hit or single hit ws, wiki says delivers a triple damage attack, does that mean hits 3 time's? or that it does Triple damage I dont get it... >_<

I use souleater whenever its up.Pre abyssea I just used it for WS.
Now with temp items and the support you have in abyssea you can easily full time it.

Quietus is 1 hit. The only thing TP affects is the amount of DEF the WS ignores. Besides, even if the damage did ramp up significantly at 300 TP there's no way it would do more than 3x single Quietus, especially not with Darkness included in the damage.
Quietus did 750 on a raged Ironclad Executioner last night, I guess someone tried to duo it and failed. To put it into perspective melee and ranged attacks were doing 40ish, and I think Ramuh did 200ish once. So that was obviously the "DEF ignored" aspect of the WS.
We zoned out, waited a while for it to reset and then I did 1.6k + 1.4k = 1.4k Darkness. Died, then did another 1.5k weakened.
After that I did 1.3k-1.9k on random NMs around Abyssea-Vunkerl....Gnawtooth Gary, Hanuman, Iktomi, Armillaria, Pascerpot, and Quasimodo. Again, no buffs aside from Yellow Curry on any of these WS. I'm currently working on getting better atmas and maxing out the stat bonus abyssites.

That still seems espectionally weak. Have you tried spinning slash on the same mobs?

Spinning Slash? Seriously? lol.
I don't know what your logic is based on. Unless you're buffed to the gills with food, a BRD/COR, atmas, and/or exceptionally lucky with DA proc, Spinning Slash isn't going to average 1.4k-1.9k on any of those NMs.
And that's not even taking into account that you can 2 step Darkness. Like I said 1.6k + 1.4k = 1.4k Darkness. Unless you can do two 2200+ Spinning Slashes at will with nothing but Yellow Curry, I'm kinda confused.

I wouldn't know. I havent used spinning slash since like 2006. We're talkin about weapons that do high damage based on ignoring defense. I'm just curious if its > or < spinning slash's bonus on these mobs.
Skill chaining is also really gimp. I have catastrophe and can do darkness all the time but its not good practice to save up to 200 TP every time for sekkanoki.

Oh ok I misunderstood. Anyway, Spinning Slash is good for high DEF mobs but it doesn't literally ignore DEF like Quietus. In comparison SS wouldn't do anywhere near 750 on a raged Iron Gigas.
Not really seeing how self-skillchaining is gimp. You're doing the exact same WS damage as 2 single Quietus, just 30ish seconds later, with a free 1.4k-1.9k extra damage every time Sekkanoki is up.
