So I just finished building a PC in New York and UPS'd it back to my place in California. When I opened up the box there was a dent in the bottom of my case (those losers obviously dropped my ***).
Everything seems to work fine except either the motherboard or the video cards are broken.
The CPU and DRAM check okay on the POST for the mobo but i get the 1 long, 3 short beeps when it gets to the VGA check. This indicates an Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA) error.
Now I need to figure out if the GPU cards are broken and the mobo can't read them, or the slots the GPU cards go in are all broken.
Just so you know I have 2 hd 5870's, I tried each of them seperately in all 4 different slots and had no success with any of them.
So either both of my GPUs are broken or my mobo is (hopefully it's my mobo)
Anyways I was wondering what you guys thought?
Btw one of the GPU slots moves way more then it should... is it possible that it broke and therefore all the other ones won't work, meaning it is a mobo problem and my GPUs are fine?
