So I'm playing through FF7 again, doing it as just Cloud.

Before I left Midgar, I had Climhazzard (Lv.2 Limit Break #2) and since then I've not been able to get 3-1.

I looked it up online to make sure I wasn't doing something horribly wrong, but all I'm getting is that I need to kill 160 mobs with Cloud >_> I'm at the Materia Keeper in Mt. Nibel at the moment, and while Climhazzard is still doing respectable damage (~900-1k), I'm itching to get my next tier back!

I've only run from fights where mobs Petrify me, Insta-death me or Stop me, so I know I've killed well over 160 mobs with Cloud, any ideas why I've yet to unlock it? XD

With the exception of the Dyne fight in the Golden Saucer, every other member of my PT has been dead the entire time.

Anyone know why I can't get the Lv.3 ones? =P I'd love you if you could share! <3

You need to kill 80 mobs AFTER you've obtained Climhazzard, I think.

Did you reset the count after you obtained Climhazzard?

Nope XD Looks like I'll just have to keep hitting things, that could be my issue.

At first I thought my problem might be because I spam Blade Beam when I have multiple mobs to fight, so I've just started spamming Climhazzard to see if I had to kill mobs with Clim instead. Only one way to find out!

Nah, you don't need to use Clim. Just keep mashing away and you'll get it. I redid it last month, and I unlocked all level 3's outside of er... fort condor? there was a group of 4-5 enemies in the forests I think. Outside of rocket down, in the forest once you best the Materia keeper is also an awesome place to unlock them. First time I had ever seen Aeris's level 4 :p

I used to play ff7 hardcore. I remember spending countless hours obtaining 3 full sets of master materia, unlocking all e-skill magic and capping out 3 additional phoenix materias paired with that purple one that lets you cast it once you're dead...

But anyway, the Limit Break system worked like this:

1-a use 8 times
1-b kill x enemies
2-a use 8 times
2-b kill x enemies
3-a use 8 times
3-b kill x enemies

I think it is only 80 mobs to break into the next tier.

then of course tier 4 was just find the item and use it, lol.

I remember unlocking Clouds tier 3-a limit break before unlocking 2-b. I think that was because i always wanted to save his LBs for bosses, lol.

Not necessarily. When Cloud falls into the lifestream, the game is retardedly easy. Hell the entire game is easy.

Protip: When I got FF7 on the PSN, I made it my point to get all his limit breaks before disc 1, which I did. Yes, its possible to get Omnislash at disc 1, however it takes an absurdly amount of time considering you can't buy GP (you have to actually play minigames to get them).

There should be no reason why you don't have Climhazzard. The best way to get everyone their limit breaks early is right after you get out of Midgar. Grab the Choco/Mog Materia and equip it on the person you want to get their limits (I did this with Aerith/Cloud).

Right at the beginning of the fight outside of the farm, use Choco/Mog. All mobs should die since they have relatively low HP.

Both Cloud and Aerith had all stages except Stage 4 complete before I even entered the Mythril Cave.

Its so fun going into the Temple of Ancients with Great Gospel =(

The amount of times you gotta use the limit breaks changes also iirc. For instance I think you gotta do Meteorain 6 times to get Finishing Touch.

Yeah, the higher it is, the less amount of times it's needed to be used. Also, it's a lot less for Vincent, but all he is using is Cloud, that won't be an issue.

Now that you say that, it does sound right. It's been well over 10 years since i played it last :/
