Well, if you have access to a Macuahuitl+1 or a Joyeuse, very obviously the Durandal is a poorer choice. Lets face it though: comparing cheap swords like this to a Joytoy is rather silly, it's like saying poeple are stupid for not using a fully upgraded relic sword instead of Durandal >.>
The reason people use this sword? They JUST beat Maat, got to level 71 and are poor. Thus, they spend 8k and upgrade their current piece of crap sword to a slightly better piece of crap sword. If they hace 100k in their pockets, thye may be eying some other gear, and upgrading their sword is low on the list.
Once your PLD reaches 75, and once you've bought some rings and have decent gear otherwise..THEN it's time to worry about dumping the silly Durandal and getting a Macuahuitl+1, or bugging people to help camp an nm for weeks to get a joytoy for you and everyone else who will decide they want one if they are going to help camp. Poor PLDs who just got to level 71 shouldn't be made to feel bad
Ok may i add, if you suffer with acc issues (some PLD do) the acc-4 on Mac+1 hurts, use this then for its usefull, tbh it also had VIT+7 and Enmity+1 so it isnt bad, 3 more DMG than Mac +1, if u NEED that enmity+4 on Mac you not got enough I.R Adaman Merits etc.... Not ripping anyone just saying wht i think, btw... Joyeuse, Trials occ at twice wpn and Organics FTW
this sword for its price is economical for pld. copycat is done for the ingot and this sword is a byproduct of the KS30. there are better swords. but usually at this level pld is upgrading to koenig shield and burple gear. and its a economical choice until joytoy and other options open up.
I still have this sword, cant get it over hy heart to sell it since this was a sword i DID use when I just hit 71
which has been several years ago when this sword was still like 10K+ or something before Mac came out.
Mac or Joy is better, but for a "beginner" (if PLD was your first job 70+, that was with me the case)
it's actually not too bad.
Okay, so let's see now, why should you use this sword ?
You're a Paladin. A meat shield, that is. And you always need more VIT. Maybe you're an elvaan, and because you're not a DD, you lack Accuracy, and can't afford the -4 Acc because yes, you will miss more with a Mac, and no that will not help with hate.
The question is, why should you be using Macuahuitl+1 when you can get this cheap baby ? The reason is : you're not 73 yet and can't use Adaman set.
If you can't manage your hate when you hit 75, you can still get a Mac instead, but you'd better start doing your job first.
Has anyone thought of the this with /dnc, it could possibly be the best Curing Waltz weapon around..Granted most would rather high dps then more hp cured, i think its a decent give/take though
I love this sword actually... It has a lot of potential. First off its a situation weapon. When you need the VIT and a little bit of enmity here you go. Augments on this can make this better and It only cost 5k and sells for a little over 3k so its not a bad loss to spend time augmenting this
