"Subscribe" Forum Feature?

One suggestion for the forums I have is a way for a user to 'subscribe' to a thread. Many other forums have this feature: when a post is made in a subscribed thread, a notification appears on the user's menu in some form. I know personally that it's a pain to search through the forum front page and look for threads and check for updates, especially when you're active on a certain day. Not to mention when somebody you're talking to in a thread doesn't see that you responded to them. Plus it'd be nice to have a little notification appear when a thread I like has an update. As a reference, Gaia Online does this pretty well. I didn't see this idea anywhere else on the site, and it's just a thought :)

You currently can get sent an email if someone quotes you, that is the closest thing we have atm.

That's true, but it requires posting and being quoted. What I end up doing now is just leaving a bunch of tabs open and F5'ing, but that's kind of cumbersome, especially when it's a busy night.
