Yaanei has never been hard. People just haven't handled it properly. There are plenty of job combinations that can duo it with ease. NIN or MNK + WHM or RDM being among the easiest that could duo it.

lol it's just one of those things that gets harder the more people you throw at it. Got to watch a JP group do just that, pulled it all the way to Tunga to kite around the rocks and stuff.
I've duo (whm-nin duel box) Yaanei before, it's not hard but that Besieger's Bane sure ruined my day. A few well timed temp meds and Mijin Gakure helped me recover. Maybe if I learn to actually use my -MDT set than /panicking...
