Just wanted to see what you bards are using for atma's.
Haven't really seen whats available, just using the following:

Atma of the Deep Devourer
Subtle Blow+: Minor Store TP+: Minor Song Casting Time-: Major

Atma of the Minikin Monstrosity

Atma of the Despot
Charisma+:Superior, Occasionally absorbs magic damage, Save TP: Major

Anything better out there?

Minikin Monstrosity is standard to have if you are throwing out Cure IVs alot. Atma of Ambition is also good to have if you haven't finished your +1 AFv3 feet as that will allow you to do many things that requires movement speed (sac pulling, sneak popping NMs, kiting, etc) and it also provides an additional +5 refresh for the low man situation. Atma of the Apocalypse also compliments Ambition very well for the same reasons since it provides unlimited reraises.

I never found myself using Atma of the Despot that much since I am able to land majority of my threnodies on almost every NM (minus the naturally resistant ones). I always use MM/Apoc/Devourer as my standard, MM/Apoc/Ambition if my group is low on healers, or MM/Apoc/(Ele Resist; ex Earth Wyrm) for magic heavy fights like the Hero Wyrms. Anyways that is what I use at the moment that is practical for my own play style with my linkshell.

I've been using MM/Allure/Merciless for the very rare times I'm on brd, it works very well for lowman.

Personally, most of the time I only use 2 atmas for brd Minikin/Merciless songs go off super fast as it is with empyrean head and merc. If you are capped on skill and have applied cruor buffs your songs should never miss (unless immune). And how fast do you need to sing in order to not do anything but cure for the next 3+ minutes provided you have the extended song duration gear. (Not to mention capped troubadour/nightangale)

The third atma is saved for certain things like missing certain red procs, I'll use sea daughters for 5tp/regain and run in to ws.

But this is from a person who only uses his brd for NM not parties~

I use Merciless/Monstrosity/AoA

Merciless for the accuracy & fast cast

Monstrosity for the cures

AoA especially if I'm pulling, and it's nice when Quick-cast procs.

When I'm BRD/WHM I am usually the main healer (in a duo/trio) so I use:

Minikin: 10mp per tic rocks
Harmony: gives 10% cure potency
Deep Devourer/AoA: recently AoA because instant cast songs/cures with no recast timer just kicks ***

Not to hop into this thread way late, but apparently I'm the only one who uses Atma of Camraderie:

Store TP+ Minor
Cure Cast Time- Minor
Song Recast Delay- Superior

I usually combine that with Minikin and Apoc. It's similar to Blighted Breath that Issymo mentioned with the added Cure cast time, which is nice for backup cures. I do have Merciless Matriarch but I don't usually use it over Apoc since I find new and interesting ways to die and the auto-RR is nice.

Currently using Deep Devourer and Allure.

When I have them I'll use MM, Deep devourer and Merciless Matriarch.

With a decent set you'd be hitting the song cast - cap easily.

This is the set I knocked together just taking DD into mind for buffing (specifically march at 90 with capped skill).

Any critique?

Well I was planning to drop Allure for MM anyway.

Why is DD that good?
The reason -casting time was so important back at 75 was so you could pull faster for meritparties mostly, other than that it's just a small bonus?

It helps a ton when your members are running from mob to mob lol.

Same as if your support healing, it's a gigantic pain getting caught with your trousers down whilst casting a long song.

More than once I've started singing only to have the need to silena the healer asap and been stuck in the animation. This lessens the chance of that.

I'd never use more than one atma for song cast- but having DD is a huge boon imo.

I retired my BRD and left it at 75, but I'll try to field this question.

Song Cast Time reduction gear has benefits beyond quick songs and quick pulls in merit parties. Buffing in event settings requires BRDs to spend a fair amount of time within AoE range of nasty TP moves and AoE spells. Reducing the casting time of songs reduces a BRD's exposure to damage, debuffs, and death. Furthermore, a BRD who spends more time outside of AoE range with the rest of the backline mages lives longer and has more time to help remove status ailments and toss out cures.

If anything, I'd imagine -song casting time gear and atmas are even more important in Abyssea. BRD/WHMs now have Cure4 and Haste, among other spells, and possess the MP pool in Abyssea to function decently well as a main healer for things such as farming lights/chests and lower-echelon NMs. Less time spent buffing is more time spent healing (or able to heal).

EDIT: Eesh, I should have refreshed the page before typing out my post. Beaten, and badly at that! xD

adding a manteel and loq would put you pretty close to -50% cast time, which i'd guess would be the cap. adding those would make the benefits from DD pretty minimal. that's WITHOUT merciless matriarch, which adds fastcast.

if the cap is over 50%, then i'd have to rethink it.

I use MM, Deep D, and Merciless M as well.
If you're worried about running around to buff party members that are all over the place, you might want to pick up a Harmony Cape. Also nice for Finale recast ^^

Cap is 50%, can only be broken with Nightingale/Troubadour
atm, when /whm the max you can get is 47-48% in gear.

Personally I use MM, Apoc, and a MAcc one.

I'd rather use that than using up an atma slot, assuming the ring works like Medicine ring, and not like Sorc ring

I'm not find MAcc a problem at all in Abyssea :/

Threnodies can be a bit finicky at times, but in general they either hit or simply won't due to mob element.

Merciless Matriarch is Fast Cast: Superior aswell, should be able to reach -50% without the use of DD pretty easily with that <_>
Wiki say it's 7.5%, assume it's like other pieces, where that's the recast reduction, and the casting time is double that amount, so -15%, and DD is -20%?
